Ganol-Catchment team conducted a meeting on VPIC formation at Old Harigaon Village under Rerapara Block , South West Garo Hills District.

On the 5th November 2025, the Ganol-Catchment team conducted a meeting on VPIC formation at Old Harigaon Village under Rerapara Block , South West Garo Hills District  which comprises 104 households and is inhabited by the Koch community. During the meeting, the team discussed the project overview, objectives, and funding aspects. Further discussions were held on the implementation process covering plantation activities, livelihood initiatives, SWC measures, PRA, FPA, and the preparation of VLMAP.

The roles and responsibilities of the VPIC were explained in detail, including the composition of the Executive Committee, Local Purchase Committee (LPC), Village Committee Facilitator (VCF), Working Committee, and the General Body. The importance of ensuring gender equality during committee selection was emphasized.

The community informed the team that not all households could attend the meeting due to a village program. They conveyed that a separate village meeting would be convened to discuss the formation of the committee, and the VPIC would be finalized based on a collective decision of all households.
