The Ganol CMU team conducted a VLMAP preparation exercise at Andarkona VPIC under Rerapara Block, SWGH.

On 6th May 2026, the Ganol CMU team conducted a VLMAP preparation exercise at Andarkona VPIC under Rerapara Block, SWGH. During the programme, the VPIC members proposed several interventions, including CC retaining walls, rainwater harvesting for the community hall, a dug-out pond, and a water storage tank to be connected with the JJM supply system. The team advised the VPIC members to first obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the PHE Department before proceeding with the water storage tank proposal.

As Andarkona falls under a lower catchment area, the availability of water resources within the VPIC is limited. Therefore, the community mainly focused on livelihood-based activities such as dairy farming, goat rearing, and poultry farming. The VO members also proposed pickle making and weaving activities, as the Andarkona VPIC belongs to the Koch community, which is well known for its traditional weaving skills.

Although the VPIC area is relatively small, the community members have voluntarily contributed land for plantation activities to be carried out this year.
